FAQ

Common questions

What is the NHS Minor Ailments Scheme?

It's an NHS service that lets you get advice and treatment for everyday minor health problems directly from our pharmacist — without waiting for a GP appointment.

How much does it cost?

The consultation is free. If the pharmacist can treat you under the scheme, any NHS prescription charge that applies is the same as it would be at your GP — and free if you don't normally pay for prescriptions.

Do I need an appointment?

No — walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. If you'd rather have a set time, call us on 01480 425412 and we'll schedule one for you.

What if the pharmacist can't help?

If your problem needs more than the scheme covers, the pharmacist will explain why and point you to the right NHS service — your GP, urgent care or, in an emergency, 999.

Is it private?

Yes. Any consultation takes place in our private consultation room, and anything you discuss stays confidential.

Who can use the scheme?

The scheme is for everyday minor illnesses and complaints. Our pharmacist will check it's suitable for you — babies, children and adults can all be seen, depending on the condition.
